Rules and Regulations

The rules to be followed by the pilots
English | Italian

Preamble

Pilots of Mediterranea Virtual Airline have to complete the assigned flights in order to move forward in his/her virtual career. To each pilot is assigned a rank based on flown hours, and a score based on flown hours, virtual capital held and of the badges.

It is also planned to assign a flight-conduct based score through the new MEDacars software. This will eventually complement the existing one.

Assigned flights, grade, score, badge and capital are visible by accessing the various links within the MEDGEST menu: Roster, Assignments, Rankings etc. By clicking on the pilot's ID number on the beforementioned pages, it is also possible to access the personal profile (also accessible from the flight log) where there are also other data such as hiring date, achieved badges and the latest 10 completed flights.

The pilots will also have the opportunity to invest their capital in a virtual stock exchange platform.

Plaese, always communicate to your hub manager the intention not to fly with Mediterranea anymore. This will allow us to delete your data from the databases!

Assigned flights

On a monthly basis, the pilots will find on the Hub's "Assignments" page two flights to be flown during the month. The pilots check verify the logbook flights registration directly on the a"Assignments" page. In such page can also check the number of free flights registered. By clicking on the flight code a pop-up with the flight data will open.

On the MedGestIII "Logbook" page pilots can also check their flight situation and the flights pending validation, while in the "Profile" page will also be possible to insert a personal picture and a presentation.
There are also many other pages that are not listed here that can ber found by browsing the reserved and public areas of the website.

On the "Radar" page pilots will be able to see the ongoing flights.

If during a month one or no assigned flights are flown, the same one(s) will be assigned again the following month.

Free Flights and Non- assigned flights

Within a single month the pilots can fly six non-assigned flights. If the two assigned flights have already been flown, there will be available 20 additional non-assigned flights, making thus available a total of twenty-six non-assigned flights in a month. The pilot can so reach a total of twenty-eight monthly flights (two assigned plus twenty-six non-assigned flights).

NOTE: If flights are carried out during the Mediterranea fly-inns, it is possible register them over quota, whenever the 26 monthly flights limit has been reached.

As free flight is intended (please pay attention to the difference):

  • A NON-ASSIGNED flight chosen from those available in the Timetable and compatible with the pilots' rank. For these flights, departure and arrival times, and scheduled aircraft must be respected. Such flights allow to earn Virtual currency an assigned flight.

  • A NON ASSIGNED AND NON SCHEDULED flight, with departure, arrival and aircraft freely chosen by the pilot (but within pilot's rank A/C limits). Such flights are considere as "free and non assigned" and are unpaid. Such flights are also subject to a specific tax and points deduction within the "Gestione Economica".

ATTENTION: due to technical limitations, is NOT possible to send more than one time the same flight within the same day.

Go up

 Multi-leg flights

Within the timetable Mediterranea there als are several multi-leg flights

E.g: the MAVT0001 has two legs.
MAVT0001A CN1 LIBP LIPV 11:00 12:50
MAVT0001B CN1 LIPV LIME 13:30 14:35

The flight code, in such cases, always ends with a letter (A, B, C...) and within the flight registration process, it is accounted as a single flight.

However, the flights must be flown adn submitted separately.

Please, take into accoun that:
1) The legs must bel flows as per given order (A -B -C ...). So, fro example, it is not possible to flight the leg C before the leg A.
2) All the legs should possibly be submitted within the same day. However it is mandatory to send all the legs within the same month, otherwise the flight will not be accounted, and if it is an assigned flight will be necessary to fly it again the following month.

 Sequence of flights

Starting from September 2007, pilots are allowed to fly their flights in sequence, by departing from the airport reached with the latest flight. Check the webpage.

Every flight in sequence provides a bonus of:
v£ 1.500 for flights shorter than 3 hours
v£ 3.000 for flights longer than 3 hours

In addition, when reaching 100 and 1000 flights in sequence, pilots are entitled to a special award. This can be requested by writing to the respective Hub Captain.

NOTE: the sequence counting will be resetted to zero if pilots send a flight not deprting from the latest reached airport. In order to keep on the sequence counting, will be taken into account the flights registered throught the Hubs only - any flight sent to the IVAO VAS or to the TOURs only will not be considered.

NOTE #2: All the flights scheduled as TOURXXXX will not be accounted for sequence by default, unless the pilot asks - while submitting the flight - to include it. This can be done through the specific option in the MEDGEST III flight submission form.

NOTE #3: If several flights in sequence are flown within a single days, it is highly suggested to write "flight in sequence n. xx" in the "note" section of the MEDGEST III flight submission form.

 Long Range flights

Starting from August 2008 all the Long-renge flights have to follow a special procedure.
Are considered as  Long Range flights:
- scheduled flights from the MED Timetable longer than 5 hours.
- all the remaining categories of flights longer than 5 hours.

Such flights either on-line, off-line, day and night ones must regualry report within the Global CTA Mediterranea, as per instruction provided in that page.

Change of an assigned flight

Within the page linked to the sequence-flying registration (here) it is also possible to request for an assigned flight change:

The change price for each request is V£ 20.000.

The pilots can change the assigned flights with anyone scheduled in the Timetable, including ong-range and awards/tours, but cannot select any multi-leg flight.

The new flight must comply with the ranking restriction for the pilot. If the new flight requires a plane that cannot be lowin by the pilot, a new change (at own expenses) must be performed.

 Payments

Payments will be done in Virtual Liras (V£), based on the flight time and the airplane used for the flight. Within the dynamic timetable the estimated amount for each flight is displayed.

Free flights non scheduled within the timetable (freely created by the pilots) are not paid. Flight hours and additional flight-related bonuses only are registered.

NOTE: after the entre in force of the NOTAM n. 081201 dated 1st December 2008, every submitted flight has to be accompanied by a complete MEDGEST radar track. If the tradar track is partial or unavailable, any V£ will be paid. Only ranking up bonuses can be paid anyways

Flights validation and timetable

As soon as the Hub Captain approves or rejects the flights withn MEDGEST III, the system updates in real time all the related data withn the webpages "Pilots", "Assigned flights" and all the remaining related pages

The dynamic timetable allows to read the scheduled flight times and the aiplanes to be used. Pilots have to read it when choosing a flight. The web timetable provides additional information linked to: different planes to be used (if the scheduled one is not available within the Hangar), general rules for specific flight codes, and the flight plans. Please note that such flight planes are not mandatory; each pilot can plan the route autonomously - provided that it complies with airspaces rules and regulations.

Go up

Airplanes and timetable (different codes)

When choosing a plane, is als possoble to have  a look to the comparison table available within the MEDacars Help page.

Please note that when using a different but equivalent plane (e.g. A320 inststead of a scheduled A319), the code to be put in the MEDACARS flight plan page has to be the actual plane used in the simulator, not the scheduled one. Morover, is forbidden to use the generic plane codes marked as "all pax model". For example, if a pilot is flying with a Boeing 737-700 should not put 737 as a code, but 73W.

 Report

After each flight, thee pilot has to submit the flying report filled by MEDAcars as per instructions detailled in the Help page. Is also possible to write on the Mediterranea Forum if there are any issues using MEDAcars. Before writing on the forum, is highly recommended to read all the information available

Also for on-line flights MEDAcars must be used, and the flight submission follows the same rules for off-line flights, but on the flight plan page must be declared the fying network (IVAO or VATSIM).

All the reports (online and offline) must be submitted within 24 hours after land. If that does not happen, the flight will not be accepted by the validator.

Flying rules

In order tor egister the flying hours pilots must comply with the general rules and regulations and with HUBs' NOTAMS.

Weather and  Simulation Rate

All the flights must be performed in real-time weather and without sim-rate acceleration. The latter are forbidded either for online and offline flights.

Flight scheduled time

Some flights have a schedule take off and landing time.
All the scheduled times are in UTC format (GMT in FS). When setting up a flight be sure to adequatly set the day time, remembering that a flight can be take off 10 minutes earlier or 30 minutes later than the scheduled time. By exceding such limits, the flight will not be accepted. If the flight is outside such limits, MEDACARS will prompt a warning on the screen.

For example: If the flight is scheduled to take off at 9.30 UTC, pilots can take off between 9.20 and 10.00 UTC. Landing times are indicative.

Airplanes

Excepting changes authorized by the Hub Captains, every pilot must use an airplane category that falls into the pilot's current rank.

Within the MedAcars help page a comparison table is available in order to autonomously change planes without authorizations. For example, a 738 can be changed without authorizations with a 735 or a CR7 can be changed without authorization with a CR9.

In all the cases non falling under the above-mentioned table, the pilot must use the exact plane scheduled for the flight. Flight codes with "LIB" as scheduled aircraft can be flown with any aircraft that falls within the pilot's rank.

NOTE: The aircraft in the MEDACARS flight plan must be the one chosen in the simulator. Otherwise, the flight will not be accepted and a warning will be issued on the pilot's logbook. If the pilot keeps in pursuing that, can be suspended by the Hub Captain.

Slew mode and in-flight pauses

All the flights, both online and offline, must be flown at once. It is not possible to save a flight and end it later.

It is also forbidden to pause while flying, as requested bu online networks such as IVAO or VATSIM.

When flying offline, it is possible to pause the flight, but not more that 20 minutes.

Finally slew mode is ALWAYS forbidden. It is also forbidden to rapidly move the plane from a location to another using the FS "go to" function or similar ones through external softwares.

FlightSim crash

Both during online and offline flights, FS crashes can be recovered through a correct use of the MEDACARS Autosave program. In any case, the flight must be resumed within 20 minutes from the occurred FS crash.

PC or MEDAcars crashes

Also if a PC or a MEDACARS crash occurs, the flight can be  recovered through a correct use of the MEDACARS Autosave program. Also in such cases the flight must be resumed within 20 minutes from the occurred FS crash.

Alternate airport

It is mandatory to declare the alternate airport. Through the MEDAlt program (integrated as MedACARS function) it is possible to select the most suitable alternate airport for the flight.

Company rules

E-mail addresses

In order to be updated, all pilots must check the validity of their personal e-mail addresses. That is possible through the "personal data" page in MEDGEST III.

Pilots with an invalid or not working e-mail address will be suspended from flying until a new e-mail address is provided.

Pilot inactivity

  • Pilots not flying over a period of 6 months are automatically considered on leave, and the accounts suspended.

  • Pilots not flying over a period of 2 years are automatically and permanently deleted from our achives.

A list of inactive pilots is published at the bottom of the Pilots' roster page.

Pilots on leave can request to the respective Hub Captain to get back flying through an e-mail send by the "Segreteria" webpage. To be active, the recently reactuvated pilots have to log at least one flight within the month. If failing in doing so, will be put again on leave.

Pilots not flying for more that 2 years will be permanetly deleted, and if willing to fly again, shougld start over the carreer.

Bring a new pilot to Mediterranea

If a Mediterranea Virtual Pilot brings anothe pilot, he is entitled to a special award woth 100 points and 25.000 V£.

To get the award, the pilot has to write in order to provide the details of the new pilot.

The award will be assigned when the new pilot officially becomes part of the V.A. only. It is suggested to write to the Hub Captain after that only.

Flight time transfer from other Virtual Airline

Flight time transfer from another VA can be performed when applying to Mediterranea (without any V£ calculation), only under two conditions:

  • Reisgn from the old VA.

  • Resignation and flight-time certification from a staff member of the old VA. If that would not be possible, please allow our staff to check it on the old VA website before formal resignation.

HUB transfer

Given the huge amount of data registered within the Medgest archives, a full hub transfer is not possible. The only way to do so is to reisgn from the registration hub and apply fro the new one, by asking to keep flight time and V£. All the other data (e.g. badges, award, etc) will be permanently deleted.

Flights with other VAs

It is forbidden to fly with other VAs and contextually register/log the same flight (online/offline) with Mediterranea. In such cases the pilot will incur in an immediate suspension from Mediterranea.
